About

Author & Playwright Charlotte Cameron. Photo: Tom Cameron
I’m a playwright and author writing about historical figures. My plays are about Alex Decoteau, Annie Jackson and Malcolm Lowry. I have also written a novel about the persecution of the Cathars in 13th Century France. Although on the surface these subjects are all over the map, there are connections, and when spun together they create a web of ideas and concerns.

Here are some of the topics and ideas that I hope to discuss in my blog:
  • The process for the publication of my play as the book Running: The Alex Decoteau Story by Fictive Press in the fall of 2014, 100 years after the outbreak of WWI.
  • Information about Alex Decoteau, Aboriginal Policeman, Olympic Runner (1912) and a soldier killed at the Battle of Passchendaele (1917).
  • How I did research on the First World War. An article I wrote about Major (retired) David Haas who was of invaluable help with the research.
  • An overview of a 1972 PhD thesis describing the residential school Alex attended.
  • Lessons learned from the launch of the book.
  • Questions and Answers to engage the reader.
